Acceptable Use Policy
What you may not do with WALayer, and what happens if you do it.
Last updated 19 August 2026
Why this exists
Our interests and yours point the same way here. WhatsApp bans numbers mainly for behaviour, so the conduct this policy prohibits is also the conduct most likely to get your own number banned. Using the Service responsibly is how you keep it working.
This policy forms part of the Terms of Service.
Consent, and cold outreach
You may only message people who have agreed to hear from you. Do not use the Service for outreach to purchased, rented, scraped or otherwise non-consenting lists. If you cannot show how someone opted in, do not message them.
Honour opt-outs promptly. Where someone asks to stop hearing from you, stop.
Prohibited content and conduct
- Spam, bulk unsolicited messaging, or any attempt to disguise it as individual conversation.
- Phishing, credential harvesting, impersonation of another person, business or authority, and any other deception.
- Fraud, including advance-fee schemes, fake investment or cryptocurrency offers, and counterfeit goods.
- Malware, spyware, or links intended to compromise a device or account.
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or content that sexualises minors.
- Content that is unlawful where you operate or where the recipient is.
- Anything that breaches WhatsApp's own terms beyond the connection method itself.
Platform integrity
- Do not attempt to evade a suspension or ban, whether ours or WhatsApp's, including by opening new accounts or rotating numbers to continue prohibited activity.
- Do not build or sell tooling whose primary purpose is to disguise automated traffic as human.
- Do not attempt to circumvent warmup limits, pacing, rate limits or quotas.
- Do not probe, scan or test the security of the platform without written permission. Responsible disclosure is welcome at [email protected].
- Do not resell access in a way that makes the end user invisible to us for abuse purposes.
How we enforce
We run automated abuse detection across signals such as complaint rates, block rates, send patterns and recipient reachability. Detection is on metadata, not on reading your message content.
Where something looks wrong we will normally contact you first and give you a chance to correct it. Where the violation is serious, repeated, or puts the platform or other customers at risk, we may freeze sending on a number, suspend the account, or terminate it immediately.
A suspension is visible to you: sending is frozen, the API returns a specific error, and an event is delivered to your webhook so your integration hears about it rather than discovering it through a wall of failures.
Appeals
If you believe we have acted wrongly, write to [email protected] with your account details and what you think happened. We will review it with a human and reply.
Reporting abuse
To report someone abusing the Service, email [email protected] with as much detail as you can, including numbers and timestamps.
